NOMINATION PERIOD: Program begins at 12:00 a.m. Eastern Time (“E.T.”) on 1/21/14 and ends at 11:59 p.m. E.T. on 4/4/14 (“Nomination Period”). Online nominations must be received by 11:59 p.m. E.T. on 4/4/14. Mail-in nominations must be postmarked on or before 4/4/14 and be received by 4/11/14. The Program is sponsored by Meredith Corporation, 1716 Locust St., Des Moines, IA (“we,” “us,” “our” or “Sponsor”).

SUBMIT A NOMINATION: During the Nomination Period, you (“you,” “your” or “Nominator”) may nominate a woman you know who is making a difference in her community through her own volunteer efforts or through her involvement with an established volunteer program (“Nominee”). To be eligible, a nomination must include: (1) your name, address, e-mail address, daytime phone number, and relationship to the Nominee; (2) the Nominee’s name, address, e-mail address, and daytime phone number; (3) the name and a description of the volunteer program in which the Nominee is involved, and a contact name and telephone number for someone at the program whom we may contact for more information; (4) an essay describing in 400-800 words what the Nominee has done, describing her achievements and giving specific examples of individuals whose lives she has changed; and (5) the URL of a website and/or news clippings, photographs, and any additional information (collectively, a “Nomination”). There are two ways to submit a Nomination: 1) Online: Visit and follow the directions provided to submit your Nomination. Note that the information for number (5) above must be submitted via mail to the following address: TRADITIONAL HOME CLASSIC WOMAN AWARDS, P.O. Box 7290, Des Moines, IA 50309-7290. You must include your full name and email address and the full name of the Nominee with any additional information; or 2) Via Mail: Type or write the Nomination and send in an envelope affixed with proper postage to: TRADITIONAL HOME CLASSIC WOMAN AWARDS, P.O. Box 7290, Des Moines, IA 50309-7290. 

You may not nominate yourself for this Program. There is no cost to submit a Nomination. If you submit your Nomination to the Program online, you will automatically be registered at if you have not already registered. Nominations will become our property and will not be acknowledged or returned. You may submit only one (1) Nomination, regardless of method of entry.

Nominations must (i) be original (written by you), (ii) be in English, (iii) not be previously published or submitted in connection with any other program and may not have won any award, (iii) be in keeping with our image and (v) not be offensive or inappropriate, nor can it defame or invade publicity rights or privacy of any person, living or deceased, or otherwise infringe upon any person’s personal or property rights or any other third party rights (including the rights of the Nominee and the organization and/or charity associated with the Nomination). Nominations that are fictional or exceeding the required length will not be considered. All Nominations are final upon submission. We may reject and/or disqualify any Nominations, subjects, or related materials that we deem to be obscene, defamatory, profane, offensive, lewd, pornographic, false, misleading, deceptive, or otherwise inconsistent with our editorial standards, audience expectations, or reputational interests or that we believe may violate any applicable law or regulation or the rights of any third party. We reserve the right, in our sole discretion to: verify (i) any element of any Nomination, related materials or Nominator’s and/or Nominee’s eligibility, (ii) request additional information and (iii) disqualify any Nominator or Nominee whose participation may subject us, the Program, our advertisers, clients, or customers to controversy, negative publicity, scorn, or ridicule. By submitting a Nomination or otherwise participating in this Program, you agree to provide any documentation or information deemed necessary by, and in a form acceptable to, Sponsor to satisfy the above requirement if asked by us to do so.

By submitting your Nomination, you agree that your Nomination conforms to these Guidelines and that we may disqualify your Nomination for any reason, including if we determine that your Nomination fails to conform to these Guidelines in any way or otherwise contains unacceptable content.

ELIGIBILITY: We welcome Nominations from legal residents of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia, who are 18 years and older at the time of nomination. Nominee must be a woman you know, who is a legal resident of the 50 United States or the District of Columbia, 18 years or older at the time of nomination. Nominators and Nominees may not be our employees and/or employees of any other organizations affiliated with the sponsorship administration, award support, advertisement or promotion of the Program and/or their respective agents, affiliates, subsidiaries and their immediate family members (regardless of where they reside) or household members, whether or not related. “Immediate family members” shall mean parents, step-parents, children, step-children, siblings, step-siblings, or spouses. “Household members” shall mean people who share the same residence at least three months a year.

JUDGING: On or about 5/19/14 a panel of qualified judges will judge all eligible Nominations based equally on the following criteria: impact of the Nominee’s volunteer efforts on her community or specific group of individuals; cumulative effect of the Nominee’s volunteer efforts; amount of Nominee’s time given to the volunteer effort; and substance and overall coherence of the written Nomination. We may request additional information from you about your Nominee, her volunteer efforts, or the program for which she volunteers. The Nominees associated with the five (5) Nominations with the highest total scores will be potential “Award Recipients,” subject to verification of eligibility. If your Nominee is selected as a potential Award Recipient, you and the Nominee will be notified by telephone, mail, or e-mail on or about 6/23/14. In the event of a tie, the Nomination with the highest score in “impact of the Nominee’s volunteer efforts on her community or specific group of individuals” will be deemed an Award Recipient, subject to verification of eligibility. You and your Nominee may be required to complete and return an Affidavit of Eligibility and/or a Release of Liability/Publicity (unless prohibited by law) and any other documents that we require within ten (10) days of date of notification. If any Nominator or Nominee associated with a potential winning Nomination is 18 but still considered a minor in his/her jurisdiction, the parent or legal guardian of such Nominator or Nominee will be required to execute any required affidavits on such Nominator’s or Nominee’s behalf. If any potential Award Recipient is at least 18 but still considered a minor in her jurisdiction of residence, we reserve the right to award the award to her parent or legal guardian who will be responsible for fulfilling all requirements imposed on Award Recipients as set forth herein and a parent/legal guardian must accompany such Award Recipient as her guest to the award ceremony. If any requested documents are not returned within the specified time period, award notification is returned as undeliverable, we are unable to contact a potential Award Recipient within a reasonable amount of time or a potential Award Recipient is not in compliance with these Guidelines, we may, in our sole discretion, choose to select the Nominee with the next highest score to receive the award. Decisions of judges are final and binding in all respects.

AWARD CEREMONY: Five Award Recipients will be invited to New York City, each with one guest, to attend a recognition reception (at a location determined by us). We will provide round-trip coach air transportation from the major airport nearest the Award Recipient’s residence for the Award Recipient and her guest and two nights’ hotel accommodations for the Award Recipient and the guest to attend the reception. We will also make a $2,500 donation to the charity or not-for-profit selected by the Award Recipient.

AWARD CONDITIONS: Each Award Recipient and her guest must be able to travel on dates selected by us in Fall 2014, or the award will be forfeited. Each Award Recipient and her guest must travel together on the same itinerary and are responsible for obtaining any necessary documentation (i.e., valid photo ID) prior to travel. Guests must be of legal age of majority in his/her jurisdiction of residence (and at least 18), unless the child or legal ward of Award Recipient and must sign a liability/publicity release prior to issuance of travel documents. If a guest is the child or legal ward of an Award Recipient, such Award Recipient must sign and return a release on behalf of such child or legal ward. All reservations and travel arrangements will be made through our agent and on a carrier of our choice. If Award Recipient resides within a 100-mile radius of New York City, NY, ground transportation will be provided in lieu of air transportation. Award Recipients are responsible for any costs and expenses associated with award acceptance not specified herein as being provided, including without limitation ground transportation, meals, souvenirs, luggage fees, incidentals, activities and gratuities. The organization that the Nominee selects to receive the $2,500 donation must have an authorized representative from such organization execute any required releases to accept such donation. Awards or award components (including travel and accommodation arrangements) may not be assigned, transferred, changed or redeemed for cash, except in our sole discretion. The provision of any award is contingent upon full compliance with these Guidelines, and Award Recipients may be subject to other verification requirements. Awards are provided “as is” without any guarantee or warranty, either express or implied, by Sponsor. All award details are at our sole discretion.

RELEASES: By participating in this Program, Nominators and Nominees agree to release us and any other organizations affiliated with the sponsorship, administration, award support, advertisement or marketing of the Program and each of their respective parents, agents, affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising and marketing agencies, and each of their respective officers, directors, agents, representatives and employees, as well as each of their respective successors, representatives and assigns (collectively, the “Released Parties”) from any and all actions, claims, injury, loss, damage or death arising in any manner, in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from participation in this Program and/or acceptance, use or misuse of any awards, including any travel/activity related thereto. 

MISCELLANEOUS: By submitting a Nomination, you agree to be bound by these Guidelines. Released Parties are not responsible for lost, late, incomplete, damaged, inaccurate, stolen, undelivered, garbled, illegible, postage-due or misdirected Nominations; or for lost, interrupted or unavailable network, server, Internet Service Provider (ISP), website, or other connections, availability or accessibility or miscommunications or failed computer, satellite, telephone or cable transmissions, lines, or technical failure or jumbled, scrambled, delayed or misdirected transmissions or computer hardware or software malfunctions, failures or difficulties, or other errors or difficulties of any kind whether human, mechanical, electronic, computer, network, typographical, printing or otherwise relating to or in connection with the Program, including, without limitation, errors or difficulties which may occur in connection with the administration of the Program, the processing of Nominations, the announcement of the Award Recipients, or in any Program-related materials. Released Parties are also not responsible for any incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by site users, tampering, hacking or by any equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Program. Released Parties are not responsible for injury or damage to Nominators’ or to any other person’s computer related to or resulting from participating in this Program or downloading materials from or use of our website. We reserve the right to disqualify any person tampering with the nomination process, the operation of our website or otherwise in violation of these Guidelines. We further reserve the right to cancel, terminate or modify this Program if not capable of completion as planned, including infection by computer virus, technical corruption, non-authorized human intervention, or any other causes which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, or integrity of the Program. In the event of cancellation or termination, we reserve the right to determine the Award Recipients from among all eligible, non-suspect Nominations received prior to date of such action using the judging criteria detailed herein. Except where prohibited by law, submitting a Nomination and/or the acceptance of an award by an Award Recipient constitutes permission to use the Nominator’s and/or Award Recipient’s Nomination, name, hometown, voice, likeness, photograph, and any statements regarding this Program in all media now known or hereafter discovered, for any purpose, including without limitation, in connection with, and to promote, market or advertise, the Program, in whole or in part, or for editorial or public relations purposes on our behalf without compensation, review, approval, credit or attribution, notification or payment from or to the Nominator, Nominee or any person or entity, worldwide, in perpetuity, or on a list of award recipients, if applicable. Program is subject to all U.S. federal, state and local laws and regulations.

PRIVACY: Registration for is required to submit a Nomination online. When you register, we collect personally identifying information about you, including your name, mailing address, and email address. The information that you provide will be added to our centralized database so that you will simultaneously be registered for our other websites as well.  By entering and providing the required registration information, you acknowledge that we may send you information, samples, or special offers it believes may be of interest to you about its publications or other complementary goods that we offer. When you submit a Nomination through the mail-in method, we collect personally identifying information about you, including your name, complete mailing address, and email address. We will not use or disclose the Nominee’s address, email address or phone number provided by you for any purpose other than to administer this Program and notify a potential Award Recipient, unless otherwise permitted by the Nominee.

LICENSE FOR USE OF NOMINATIONS: By submitting a Nomination, you grant, and represent and warrant that you have the rights and authority necessary to grant us an irrevocable, non-exclusive, fully sublicensable license and right to exploit, edit, modify, and distribute the Nomination and all elements of such Nomination, including, without limitation, the names or likenesses of any persons, organizations or locations embodied therein, in any and all media now known or hereafter devised, worldwide, in perpetuity without compensation, permission or notification to you, the Nominee or any third party.

CHOICE OF LAW/ARBITRATION: Except where prohibited, by submitting a Nomination or accepting an award, Nominators and/or Award Recipients agree that: 1) all issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Guidelines, or the rights and obligations of Nominators and/or Award Recipients and Sponsor and its agents shall be governed by and construed exclusively in accordance with the laws of the State of New York without giving effect to any principles of conflicts of law of any jurisdiction; 2) any and all disputes, claims, and causes of action arising out of or connected with this Program, or provision of the awards, shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action; and exclusively by final and binding arbitration under the rules of the American Arbitration Association and held at a AAA regional office in New York, NY; (3) judgment upon such arbitration award may be entered in any court having jurisdiction; (4) any and all claims, judgments and awards shall be limited to actual out-of-pocket costs incurred, including costs associated with participating in this Program but in no event attorneys’ fees; and (5) under no circumstances will any Nominator and/or Award Recipient be permitted to obtain awards for and hereby waives all rights to claim punitive, incidental and consequential damages and any other damages, other than for actual out-of-pocket expenses, and any and all rights to have damages multiplied or otherwise increased. Some jurisdictions do not allow the limitations or exclusion of liability for incidental or consequential damages, so the above may not apply to you.
