My nighttime ritual includes:
Jason: I slather on some moisturizing unguent in the vain hope of waking up forever 39. And I always spritz a fragrance on my wrist so that I can dream of orange-scented gardens since a vacation isn’t in our near future.
John: A deep bath with heaps of bubbles and Mr. Duck.
My favorite childhood bedtime story was…
Jason: "Goodnight Moon." And, later, any of the Eloise at The Plaza books. Then "Harriet the Spy" who I still look to as my inspiration.
John: Anything by Beatrix Potter, especially “The Tale of Jemima Puddle-Duck” and “The Tale of Peter Rabbit”
When I can’t sleep I…
Jason: I browse Pinterest for garden ideas and read vintage design books.
John: I look over eBay and auction websites. Auctions are truly my vice, especially English auctions of great old country estates.
My childhood bedroom looked like:
Jason: Very Billy Baldwin-like with lots of color blocking and modern art installed by my parents that I later covered with Wham, Thompson Twins, and Bananarama posters.
John: Mine changed from Winnie the Pooh to Cat in the Hat to vintage racecars before I took charge and went very mod 1980s in black and yellow.
My go-to bedtime snack is:
Jason: Rosé champagne
John: Fortnum & Mason Royal Blend tea
I am a: stomach, side, or back- sleeper.
T.V. in bed? If so, what’s on? We don’t like TVs in the bedroom, we would rather read.
Which Jimmy: Kimmel or Fallon? Who are they? We liked Johnny Carson as kids.
Pets in bed? Absolutely. All three of our pound-rescue pups, Jasper, Weenie, and Amy Petunia, take over. It’s more their bed than ours at this point. When the faux fur blanket comes out in the fall, they really sprawl out and we have barely any room to move.
My bedtime wardrobe consists of: Brooks Brothers striped pajamas with buttons that we switched out to add some fun.
What’s your stance on earplugs and eye-masks?
John: A Liberty London lavender-scented eye mask.
Fill in the blank: I sleep _________ on planes.
John: With a custom Madcap Cottage pillow…
I prefer to sleep…
Jason: With a light on in case there’s a monster under the bed.
John: With blackout shades.
My duvet and bed linens are… The Madcap Cottage collection of bed linens for HSN.
What’s on your nightstand? Jason: Vintage design books, a notepad, and a carafe of water. John found the flask under my pillow and told me that wasn’t acceptable so I hid it under the mattress.
My bedtime is at approximately: 1 a.m.
I aim for ___ hours of sleep each night: 5 hours, just like Martha Stewart.
Are you an early riser, or do you prefer to sleep in? We would sleep all day if possible. So would the dogs.
