White Farmhouse-Style Kitchen

A tasteful mix of styles converges in this Napa Showhouse kitchen

To find the vision for her design of the 2016 Napa Valley showhouse kitchen, Marie Flanigan looked to the surrounding countryside. “I was inspired by life in Napa,” says Flanigan, named a Traditional Home New Trad in 2015. “It’s casual elegance meets old-world rustic meets contemporary living.”

    Farmhouse Kitchen

Farmhouse favorites like shiplap siding and cup drawer pulls mingle with rustic touches, such as the reclaimed-wood barn beam that crowns the range hood and distressed-finish lanterns that illuminate the island. They’re layered with contemporary elements—the seamless marble-look backsplash and airy, utilitarian metal shelving.

As styles mingle, so do finishes: polished chrome on traditional faucets, oiled bronze on hardware, and aged copper on stools. “It’s a mix that infuses so much depth and interest,” says Flanigan, who also drew her palette from the bucolic landscape.

“Dumas” counter stools from Wesley Allen pull up to a Columbia Cabinets island, painted gray with a black glaze. “Holborn” lanterns from Circa Lighting mesh with a reclaimed-wood beam over the range. Flooring is “Castellon” from LM Flooring. Custom shelves were made by Accents in Iron.

    Lanterns

Against a clean white background, she pulled in natural wood tones and easygoing grays—plus a hint of green in the island’s undertones. “An organic color story brings the soothing Napa Valley vibe to life in this home,” the designer says.

Lanterns above the island in an old white finish continue the farmhouse charm.

    Sunny Spot

Subtle gray tones continue in the backsplash and countertop, a manufactured surface that resists heat, scratches, and stains yet boasts marble-inspired beauty.

A “Victorian” kitchen faucet from DXV by American Standard nods to traditional style. Countertops and backsplash are “Entzo” from Dekton by Cosentino.

    Powerful Range

Powerful appliances keep the kitchen on par with the region’s sophisticated food culture. A pro-grade gas range serves up six burners and a griddle. Its stainless-steel finish brings a bit of glimmer, while cabinetry panels cloak a workhorse refrigerator and double-drawer dishwasher.

The 48-inch range is from DCS.

    Napa Blend

Like the finishes and styles, people come together beautifully in this space. Guests can pull up a bar stool at the island, grab a seat in the adjacent dining area, or step through French doors to the outdoor living area. “It’s easy to entertain here, but it’s also a place of peace—a serene space where you can relax and unwind.”

A wine for every palette is on display in the adjoining dining room. This is Napa, after all!
