Monogram is bringing homeowners the island of the future, where countertop versatility puts easy living—and everything else—in easy reach. The new Monogram Island concept is a meticulously crafted, multifunctional glass-ceramic surface for food preparation, cooking, traditional countertop usage, and mobile device charging, all in one elegant and expertly engineered unit. “It’s the ‘wow’ factor that really strikes you,” says Ed Mammorella, Monogram marketing manager. “For years, consumers have imagined an unassuming countertop that’s also a cooktop and more, but to actually bring this idea to life has been a remarkable undertaking for our engineers and inventors. We are redefining what the island can bring to our kitchens by bringing more to the island. We already use them to make spaces seem larger and let the room breathe, and by joining the countertop and cooktop with storage, seating, and other conveniences. It elevates this appliance category to new levels of elegance and enjoyment.” The first commercial units are set to arrive in the fall of 2018

Vacuum sealing is a tried-and-true method of extending the storage life of food and of conveniently portioning larger quantities. Now Miele is giving home chefs the tools to match their culinary needs with a vacuum-sealing drawer that properly prepares food for sous-vide cooking. The drawer enables the user to control the sealing level and duration to adjust for delicate items such as fish or vegetables, or to give meat the benefit of locking in marinades or seasoning. This product will be available in the second half of 2018.
