French doors open the second-story master bedroom to a balcony and views of the sea. Designer Elizabeth Corker balances color, texture, and periods--mixing an old French chandelier with a modern painting by Allen Cox above the bed. Large crown moldings and paneling on the ceiling visually lower it, making it feel “more like a canopy,” says architect Scott Hutton.
