When the environment expands to the outdoors, red becomes even more valuable as a wake-up. This oasis of green is punctuated by the fiery red cushions and red-patterned pillows on the outdoor seating. Besides being an eye-opener, red also makes a foolproof friend to nature's green: the two hues are complementary colors. Just because the verdant hue is articulated by plants instead of textiles or paint doesn't mean it's any less of a player in defining the palette. (Tip: Just as green grass influences an outdoor room, wood and stone floors make an impact on indoor spaces. Take them into account when developing a palette.)
