A forerunner in the trend to designer paints, Ralph Lauren Paints was launched in 1995. Like Lauren’s home collection, the palette of over 400 colors is grouped into lifestyle themes, each one with its own ambience and mythology. From Thoroughbred, with its rich colors reminiscent of hues in a manor house, to the vibrant tropical tones of Island Brights, the painterly hues of Vintage Masters, the cool sophisticated neutrals of Urban Loft, the subtle tones of Whitewash, and earthy tones of Naturals, particularly the tawny tones of the American Southwest, the collections evoke an elegant, patrician, leisurely lifestyle.
Again, the most popular shades are the neutrals, according to Melissa Sheppard, marketing and communications manager for Ralph Lauren Home. “Cottonwood’’ (TH29), “Devonshire’’ (NA22), “Thunder Bay’’ (TH30), “Parchment’’ (NA49), “Oatmeal’’ (WW43), “Tangier Island’’ (NA05), “County Cork’’ (NA 06), “Island Sand’’ (ID47), “Poplar Island’’ (NA23), and “Venetian Red’’ (TH49) head the Top Ten list.
