An interior window above the sink allows for light flow and lets our hostess see (and be seen by) arriving guests when she’s in the compact galley kitchen. Upper cabinets and walls are painted the same neutral ivory to keep the room feeling clean and uncluttered. “Bottom cabinets are a darker finish, and that grounds the room,” Laslie says. An Art Deco-inspired tile in blue, green, and cream tones adds an artistic touch and repeats the dining-area and living-room color palettes. Matte finishes on the tile as well as honed quartz countertops contrast with the high-gloss finishes on the ceiling and the light fixture above the sink.
