On the opposite end of the room, Laslie created an intimate dining area for six. “I thought her dining style would be less formal,” Laslie says. “She would tend to have small sit-down dinner parties.” Rather than centering the table in the room, Laslie pushed it toward a wall close to a banquette tucked between two tall antique Chinese chests. Rattan dining chairs painted a glossy white provide more seating around the oval glass-top and acrylic-base table. A clear Venetian-glass chandelier, the see-through table, and the open weave of the chairs give the dining area a light and breezy feel, while nubby-textured fabric on the chair seats keeps it warm and tailored. “I like that the furniture has sort of a fashion edge. The fabric on the chair seats is reminiscent of a Chanel jacket,” Laslie explains.
