Urquiola’s modern designs suit the
season. But so does the carefree
romance of Tom Scheerer’s work. This New York-based designer has many clients—and a second home—in the Bahamas. For his own bedroom on tropical Harbour Island, above left, he draped an Anthropologie bed with diaphanous IKEA curtains—as light on the pocketbook as they are on the eyes—and floated it in the room. A shiny white floor enhances the ethereal effect; and window openings have no glass, just shutters that he only closes against heavy wind and rain, so “one can always catch a breeze.” >> |
