In New Yorker Alexa Hampton’s latest installment of her furniture collection for Hickory Chair, she stretched an electrifying ocean-blue velvet over a white-framed sofa with nailhead trim. Velvet in handsome midnight blue took a seat on her tailored klismos chairs. “I love blue with wood; it reminds me of the palette Bill Blass used for his apparel,” says Hampton. “Velvet is luxurious and suggests opulence, even though it couldn’t be more available and accessible in all its forms, from a rough linen velvet to a smooth, formal silk one.”
Pictured here: Alexa Hampton’s velvet-upholstered “Carter Sofa” for Hickory Chair is accented with pillows covered in (from left) “Sforza” by Fadini Borghi through Pierre Frey, “Velours Verdi” by Old World Weavers, “Spitafield Velvet” by Zoffany, and “Stylish Stitch” in peacock by Robert Allen. The model’s skirt is made of “San Marco” velvet from JAB through Stroheim and Romann. Down pillows courtesy of Country Air.
