“I like damask and velvet but in small doses. On the other hand, I absolutely love checks,” Dan says, pointing to the dining room chair backs and tablecloth. He’s also crazy about blue and white, a universally friendly palette he ran with full throttle to refresh the living and dining rooms. “My theme used to be ‘Make It Beige, Make It Beige.’ Now it’s ‘Singing the Blues,’” he laughs. “I wanted everything to look relaxed and not pompous,” he says, repeating the mission statement that has kept his career on a steady course.
