Don't shy away from drama in your bathroom. Take a cue from the light fixtures in these chic spaces.
A branch-like chandelier mimics the leafy view outside and nods to the gentle curves in the floor’s handmade charcoal gray concrete tiles from Portugal.

This tub niche was designed to be cozy, warm, and inviting, much like a library. Storage for towels and other items hides behind panels on either side of the tub surround. The scene is illuminated by a chrome-and-glass globe pendant.

This chandelier’s quatrefoil pattern repeats in the design of the the windows etch privacy glass. The vanities are painted a warm cream to meld with the natural stone tiles and mottled plaster walls.

An arched alcove in this master bath houses a statuesque copper tub and French doors that open to a private patio. A band of earthen marble mosaic tiles makes a noteworthy transition between the limestone wainscoting and integral color plaster walls. A simple iron-and-crystal chandelier serves as a punctuation mark.

Glint & Glimmer
A pewter soaking tub is assured focal-point status in the master bath thanks to a tile backsplash configured within a curved framework. A large shower is concealed behind the tub wall, with access from each side to one of the twin vanities. A mirrored chandelier adds sparkle overhead.

Whitewashed pine floors and walls that are primed but not painted lend this master bathroom a light porchlike feel. A ruffle-skirted slipcovered ottoman and crystal chandelier add a sense of romance.

A pair of vanities flank a soaker tub that’s tucked in a bay of windows in this master bath. A circular glass-globe chandelier adds modern flair to the space, which features classic Carrera marble floors.

Crema marfil marble floor tiles accented with inset white onyx tiles, a capiz shell chandelier, and grass-cloth walls contribute elegant substance and geometric shapes, which keep interest high in the bathing alcove.

This master bath is peaceful in cool gray tones. Slate tile on the floor hides grime, while soft gray subway tile for the shower wall reflects the light pouring in through the large window. To give the illusion of more space, the Garners left the area beneath the sinks open and opted for storage behind the sink with medicine cabinets and shelving instead. A simple star light crowns the tub.

A sculptural tub overlooks enticing mountain views. The amber Murano-inspired chandelier above the tub pops against the room’s blue hues.

This focal-point tub promises long, relaxing soaks enveloped in a soothing swarm of air bubbles. The freestanding tub replaced a built-in version that had made it difficult to open or even clean the room’s beautiful arched window. Silky pewter-tone drapes and a stunning Italian Fortuny chandelier frame the tub in sumptuous fashion. A reproduction British telephone-style tub filler and hand shower adds substance and style while supporting the room’s vintage vibe.
Design: Charmean Neithart
This master bath emphasizes the angles of the home’s roofline. The eye-catching light fixture is less expensive than it looks. It isn’t made of costly crystal but rather fishing line and wire woven to resemble a basket. Richly veined Calacatta Gold marble surrounds the tub, with understated Spanish marble on the tub deck and walls. Intricate wallpaper in soft shades of blue and gray plays up the tones in the marble, while a mosaic tile “rug” on the floor adds welcoming contrast.

Rustic + Refined
In this master bath, a freestanding tub nestles into a romantic niche with a limestone checkerboard floor and handmade ceramic wall tiles. A scrolled silver chandelier reflects the gentle sweep of the tub’s edge.

Country French Appeal
This bath’s refined sensibility is enhanced by its symmetrical layout, courtesy of a freestanding tub centered between a pair of matching vanities and a French-style chandelier. Tall cabinets adjacent to each vanity offer abundant storage and take advantage of the room’s generous ceiling height. Venetian plaster walls shimmer and shine thanks to painstakingly applied layers of subtly colored plaster and a softly waxed finish.
