A table from Ballard Designs bearing Italian nursery rhymes nods to Barbara’s part-Italian heritage.

In the master bedroom, a dynamic piece of artwork features a bird with a watering can on reclaimed boards.

Above a chest of drawers with a distressed finish is a mirror with an inset of swirls. “I love waking up in the morning and seeing all the art and the way that it works in the room,” Barbara says.

A bouquet of fresh peonies sits on a mirrored side table from Oly Studio beside the luxurious bed.

Marble makes a grand statement in the master bath. A wreath made from white ostrich feathers hangs before the shower, as seen in the mirror.

“I was incredibly fortunate when I found this house, and when I walked into the master bath, that sealed the deal,” Barbara says. “The beautiful marble and the animation of its pattern, the shower, the double vanity… How often do you move into a home and the bathroom is perfect?”

A contemporary square vase filled with glass marbles from a floral shop makes a spiffy container for makeup brushes.

A vanity chair is reupholstered in a snowy white that matches the rest of the stunning master bath.

Designer and homeowner Barbara Franceski.

Wanting a tranquil and cocoon-like feeling for friends and family enjoying her guest room, Barbara introduced an iron canopy bed from Niermann Weeks that creates a small room-within-a-room effect. Contrasting fabrics over the bed frame include the “Tamerlane” cotton print from Brunschwig & Fils, used for the outside canopy, and “Cardomon,” a geometric by Vervain that lines the canopy and repeats in the window treatment. A cream-colored matelassé quilt from Ralph Lauren Home softens the bed. The room’s statement fabrics, a green-and-white striped rug and sky-blue-and-white silk floor pillows by Schumacher, echo the colors of sea glass.

The small mirrored shelf in the guest bedroom is actually a planter hung upside-down. “I love to look at things and see how to use them differently,” Franceski says.

Barbara’s love of art is evident throughout her home. This watercolor complements the sea glass tones in the guest bedroom.
