Topiaries, wreaths, and garlands greet visitors to the Pelissier home during the Christmas season.

The family room manages to be both stately and homey, with its classical mantel and kid-friendly Christmas tree. Monogrammed chairs were originally designed for a showhouse.

“The moment I saw this clock, I knew I had the perfect place for it,” Robin says of the antique timepiece in a fanciful carved mahogany broken pediment that crowns the family room fireplace mantel. “I didn't even have the measurements, but, indeed, the clock fit this space as though it had been made for it.”

The handsome trumeau features a French pastoral painting. The spiral topiaries repeat the shapes of the topiaries on the front porch.

“Our favorite ornaments, of course, are those made by the children,” Robin says.

Connected to the family room via the arched doorway is a spacious dining room, which features a magnificent antique crystal chandelier and comfortable chairs. During the holidays, the room dons seasonal greenery and festive flowers.

In the living room, against the lacquered yellow walls, Robin mounted pink silk pagoda valances. “I love that Oriental feel,” she says, “and they keep the window treatments in a traditional room looking fresh and fun, not stuffy and predictable.” Against the yellow and pink color scheme, the cobalt-blue hanging lantern provides an unexpected flash of color. For the holidays, the fireplace is an ideal place to drape fresh greens (and so is the large round mirror over the mantel).

“A friend who’s very creative makes these Christmas trees,” Robin says of the fanciful pink quilted confection displayed atop her baby grand piano. “It’s based on a window display she saw at Bergdorf’s, and I love it!”
