A Guest Cottage Suited for Relaxing

The outdoor gathering areas and guest cottage at the Napa Showhouse encourage guests to relax and revive

Unwinding with a glass of Pinot Noir only gets better when you can rest your glass—and yourself—on a perch with views of the Napa vineyard that produced that very vintage. Designers at the 2016 Napa Valley Showhouse put Wine Country’s casually sophisticated vibe in play as they shaped gathering and guest spaces that nod to the region’s organic roots while also incorporating stylishly contemporary twists. Poolside sips, alfresco eats, and late-night chat sessions ever so rarely look this good.

Cooking for a crowd is easy in the kitchen that designer Melanie Coddington designed using DCS by Fisher & Paykel appliances set into Eldorado Stone and outfitted with countertops from Dekton by Cosentino.

Overlooking the vineyard and with a comfortable seating area just steps away, the kitchen carries a casual vibe suited to alfresco cooking and dining. “It’s a place guests feel right at home, day or night,” Coddington says.

Coddington divided the spacious outdoor area into intimate gathering spots to set a cozy, convivial mood. “A palette of navy and aubergine, grounded with shades of oyster and taupe, creates a look that’s seasonless but really highlights the beauty of Napa Valley in the fall,” she says.

In the bath, airy vanities from DXV by American Standard make the most of the modest square footage; satin-brass accents contribute a luxe touch. Tiles from Crossville on walls and the floor offer subtle counterpoint while sculptural sconces from Circa Lighting toss in panache.
