Up until now I’ve mostly discussed the big projects of home renovation—things like doors, appliances, and light fixtures—but I’d be remiss if I didn’t warn you that there are also a million little things that creep up when you least expect it— the details, ladies and gentlemen, the details. These seemingly harmless components are many and they are easy to overlook if you aren’t paying attention.
The Big Picture: The Door
In my case, I was defeated by a doorbell. I searched high and low for the perfect doorbell, and when I found it, I dutifully ordered it and waited for it to arrive. But when it finally did arrive, I learned that the chime for the doorbell was sold separately!
The Details: The Doorbell and Chime
This may seem like no big deal, but errors such as this can cause delays and keep everyone waiting, and ultimately, throw off an entire production schedule. I learned the hard way that attention to detail might just be the most important part of home renovation, so make sure you have yours with you at all times. I know I won’t forget mine again!
