In our November 2006 Body and Soul column, we featured the chicken-coop-turned-artist's-studio of Martha's Vineyard resident Laurie Krasny Brown. Laurie is something of a transformation expert, as she herself has evolved from writing children's books to fulfilling her dream of creating visual art. Today she is a successful and wonderfully talented artist who has exhibited her work in Boston and, soon, in Manhattan.

Nineteenth-century American antiques set a tone of practical grace in Laurie's studio. "This is an art studio and I want to be comfortable using things," she says. We asked Laurie about her favorite hunting grounds for American antiques. Here are a few.

Antiques at the Armory - New York City
